Our N/ATION Review:

Founded in Louisville, Kentucky, the ancestral home of fine American-made spirits for generations, Spiritless now calls Austin, Texas its home. The company was founded by three women who had extensive experience working with beverage brands, and were also moms wanting to pursue a healthier lifestyle. The result was a partnership that created one of the largest non-alcoholic spirits brands in the U.S.

The Old Fashioned Pour-Over is part of a series of ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails, which also includes pour-over versions of a margarita and a whiskey sour. The broader Spiritless portfolio includes whiskey, bourbon and tequila-substitutes that can be used as mixers in a variety of applications.

Our first impressions of the Old Fashioned was a coloring that looked just like the cocktail it is intending to replace, with hues of brownish-orange in the glass. The first sips had that signature sweet front-end, with subtle tastes of caramel and vanilla. The spice was a little more subtle than in an alcohol version of the same drink, but was still present. We drank ours on the rocks (of course!) and enjoyed it in front of a roaring fire on a cold night. To add a little bit of burn to better mimic the back-end of a ‘leaded’ version, we added a few dashes of All The Bitter’s New Orleans style bitters, which also provided a jolt of cherry that we prefer in the original as well. Like any great bitters, they were a welcome complement to the drink experience for us.

As for where you can find the Spiritless Old Fashioned Pour-Over in the wild, we found ours in a regular old liquor store, and the brand enjoys pretty wide distribution across the U.S. You can use their store locator feature to find a location near you, or buy online from their website.
