Our N/ATION Review:
As arguably the OG of the craft, non-alcoholic beer market in North America, Bravus came onto the scene in 2015 with a focus on making better crafted non-alcoholic beers than what had existed before in the category. After reviewing the Anaheim, California brewery’s unique Raspberry Gose last year, we now come back to one of their staple offerings, the Blood Orange IPA.
It’s been said that in the NA category, fruit-infused beers are popular in part because they can help mask any unpleasant flavors (or lack thereof) that could be left behind without the presence of alcohol. While that may be true for some, to us the blood orange feels very additive and not there to mask anything. Good mouthfeel, and like many Bravus beers that we’ve tried, it has good carbonation. We were a little concerned with the blood orange coming on too strong, a problem both in the non-alcoholic category as well as in full-strength beers. However, the Blood Orange IPA had a great balance of subtle flavor, without being either overpowering or too underwhelming. All in all, a great hoppy near beer with a nice punch of citrusy sweetness.
As to where you can find it, Bravus’ nationwide distribution continues to grow, and you can find them at many Total Wine & More stores. It is also available for shipping directly from the brewery.
