Our N/ATION Review:

Collective Arts Brewing was founded in 2013 with the intention of combining passions for both craft beer and the inspired talents of artists from around the world. In a way, they’re like the older Canadian cousin of Wisconsin’s Untitled Art Brewery, which was founded three years later in the U.S. along similar principles. We sampled two of their N/A offerings from the current core portfolio, which includes a number of fully-leaded cousins as well as a non-alcoholic stout.

First up we tried the IPA, which was brewed with traditional Citra, Simcoe & Mosaic hops that are true to the style. Our first impressions were that it was a bit lighter than a traditional IPA, particularly in appearance, but with the same hoppiness you’d otherwise expect. We detected an almost grassy aroma, which was probably from the hints of pine referenced in the brewery’s own description of this near beer. Definitely a smooth finish, with limited bitterness. If you like the flavor profile of an IPA but without much of a bitter ending, this may be the one for you.

Next, we sampled the Hazy Pale Ale, which certainly lives up to its name in appearances. At quick glance, it could easily pass for a hazy IPA. This brew kicks things off with a citrusy aroma, portending some juicy-ness in the flavor profile. It’s definitely got both that and a punch of hoppiness, with an even smoother finish than the IPA, as you’d expect. If you’re looking for something crushable but with a little more punch than a lager or kolsch, this would be a good choice.

As far as where to find these and other Collective Arts brews, well, if you’re lucky enough to live in the province of Ontario in one of their express delivery zones, you may be able to get some with same-day delivery. If you live outside of Ontario, you may just have to order online from a site like Drizly, or in our case, find it carried in your local AF bottle shop.
