Our N/ATION Review:
As we discussed in our review of the brewery’s On Your Mark American Blonde, Kit NA is an NA-only producer based in the coastal city of Portland, Maine, one of New England’s best beer towns. With recent distribution expansion down the east coast through Georgia, their portfolio of three core beers now include a Wheat, recently replacing the IPA that previously occupied the ‘Get Set’ moniker in their themed, ‘On Your Mark',’ ‘Get Set', ‘Here We Go’ lineup.
We’d been looking forward to trying Get Set, as there are still not a large number of non-alcoholic wheat beers on the market. Plus, we’re big fans of their partnership with mental health organization Sound Mind Live, a non-profit dedicated to amplifying awareness for mental health. A portion of Kit NA sales support key Sound Mind initiatives. Made with chinook hops, our first impressions of this gluten-free, 81 calorie brew were a nice, hazy orange pour with subtle aromas of citrus, and perhaps a touch of coriander in the nose. Some N/As of a lighter style such as wheat can often leave something to be desired in terms of mouthfeel, but this selection was a pleasant exception. Really flavorful taste overall, but not overly hoppy or bitter. All in all, a very impressive new beer in a style category in desperate need of more good options. If you fancy a wheat N/A that’s true to its style, this may become a beer in your permanent rotation.
As to where you can find Kit NA Get Set, thanks to the aforementioned expansion they are now available in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, DC metro, Virginia, and Georgia, in addition to where they’ve already been in the New England states. Furthermore, they have expanded with several large new retail partnerships that include Wegmans, Big Y and Price Chopper, with a larger presence in existing retailers such as Whole Foods and Total Wine.
