Our N/ATION Review:

Founded in 2009 amidst the Great Recession, Fremont Brewing is a Seattle-based brewery known for its small-batch brews, and renowned for its commitment to crafting flavorful sustainably-made beers. They have also embraced the non-alcoholic movement with, at present, a core lineup of three NA brews (an IPA, Dark, and a Wit) as well as a hop water. For their flagship NA, building on a reputation for hop-forward brews they set out to create an NA option that captured the essence of their own fully-leaded IPAs.

From the can, the Non-Alcoholic IPA pours a bright, light amber color (or as one might view, dark yellow), hinting at a refreshing and approachable drinking experience. First taste impressions reveal a distinct hop character, with notes of citrus and tropical fruit that align with hints of guava. The bitterness is carefully balanced, providing a satisfying hop presence. A subtle malt sweetness complements the hop profile, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable finish. While understandably less hop-forward than their alcoholic IPA, this non-alcoholic version retains a noticeable depth of flavor. All in all, a nice non alcoholic brew made from the town that brought us coffee culture, technology, and Eddie Vedder’s grungy crooning.

Fremont has recently been expanding its national presence, so you may find some in your local specialty beverage retailer. Otherwise, your best bet might be to check out their online beer finder.
