Our N/ATION Review:
We’d been excited to try Montana’s first-ever non-alcoholic beer, and couldn’t wait to dive right in when our package arrived from Big Sky country. Imagine Nation Brewing has been a leader in promoting the non-alcoholic movement from their Missoula taproom, in a rural area where issues like drinking and driving are significant. They also take community very seriously, hosting thousands of events and making sure everyone feels included by their brand. And of course, the beer!
Like many NA brews made by breweries from the “leaded” world, the Lupujus Zero New England-style IPA is modeled after a full-octane cousin of the same name. It’s brewed as a non-alcoholic beer from the ground-up, then dry hopped with three pounds per barrel of Citra, Mosaic & Strata hops to ensure a hoppy experience. On the pour, it appears light and hazy as one would expect of the style. The aroma is rich and fantastic, with citrusy scents like grapefruit that are evident. On the mouthfeel, we get a highly-flavorful NA IPA with notes of pine and solid carbonation. This one is a great pick for those who find non-alcoholic beers to be a bit lacking in the hops category, as those three pounds of dry-hopped Citra, Mosaic & Strata were put to good use. And the can art label on this one is just phenomenal, as well.
As for where you can find it, sadly you’ll have to visit the great state of Montana where you can find these in their taproom, and perhaps other locations around the state.
