Our N/ATION Review:
This was our first expedition into one of WellBeing Brewing Co’s line of non-alcoholic beers. One of the early members of the exclusively-NA brewery club, the company was founded in 2017 by the husband and wife team of Jeff and Genevieve Stevens. Like many, they were frustrated by the options plaguing those looking to enjoy alcohol-free nights out, live music and hanging out in bars, activities that typically involve drinking adult beverages. Feeling that the craft beer boom had left N/A behind, they started the company to create purpose-driven beer for others looking for the same things.
While we’ve actually also tried the Golden Wheat (also pictured), we’ll focus here on the Hellraiser Amber Ale, one of our recommended picks for Sober October. What first got our attention about this beer is it wasn’t too heavy on the spices like some in this style could be, both leaded and unleaded versions. Some dark beers just have a hint of “dankness” that spoils the fun of a richer, sweater-weather beer, but this a happy exception. But don’t get us wrong - the spices are there, and they complement the hops well in what we’d consider to be one of the best Fall beers of this season. And at 80 calories, you can certainly drink more than one without guilt as well.
Available through their website (except where prohibited by state law…looking at you Georgia and Michigan), and of course, great AF bottle shops like where we found this one.
