Our N/ATION Review:
Go Brewing burst onto the scene in 2023, having started in founder Joe Chura’s garage, post-COVID. They’ve quickly grown into a significant player in the industry, setting lofty sights as detailed in our podcast episode recorded with Chura from the brewery’s Naperville taproom this past June. Go has a rotating selection of evergreen, year-round options that include the usual craft beer styles like IPAs, sours, and lighter beers, complemented with seasonal offerings. Not Just Another Story is a double-hopped IPA style near-beer, which along with their Sunshine State IPA, and Suspended In A Sunbeam Pilsner, make up a core part of the brand’s distributed offerings.
The “story” behind Not Just Another Story, is the idea for the beer came out of a conversation between Chura and Rob Theodorow of Lafayette, Indiana-based Generation NA. Chura asked the NA bottle shop owner which beer styles people were looking for in the NA world. Theodorow told him they wanted double IPAs, and the rest is history.
Not Just Another Story pours cleanly from the can, with a dark, golden hue. Made using Simcoe, Mosaic and Citra hops, the hops make themselves evident very quickly, with the familiar bitterness of a really good IPA. This beer finishes well, and like many in the Go portfolio, it could easily pass as a full-alcohol version.
As for where you can find Not Just Another Story, the good news is the brewery has been gaining distribution across the U.S., starting first in the Midwest, but currently distributed in a growing number of other states. If not local (yet) to you, you can also purchase via their website, or on Amazon.
